Preparatory Modelling Week, 7-11.09.2015

The Preparatory Modelling Week is organized and designed for last years Bachelor students, Master and Doctoral students.

The Preparatory Modelling Week is a 5-day workshop that aims to provide participants with hands-on experience of mathematical modelling under the guidance of experienced instructors. The Modelling Week is designed to promote a broad range of problem-solving skills, such as mathematical modeling, dimensional analysis of the models, numerical methods for their solving, scientific computations and analysis of the solutions.

The problems to be considered are inspired by real problems that have arisen in industry or science. The Modelling Week begins with presentations from the mentors. Then, the participants form teams to work on each problem. Scientific communication is an important part of the Modelling Week and all participants are expected to make presentations. Each group is expected to submit a report after the Modelling Week has ended.

The Preparatory Modelling Week is designed to run back-to-back with the 113th Study Group with Industry (ESGI'113). All Modelling week attendees are expected to attend the study group. The Modelling week runs the week prior to the ESGI, providing problem-solving experience as a warm-up for the Study Group.

The lunches and coffee-breaks for all of the participants will be provided for the duration of the MW. All attendees will need to cover their own evening meal costs.
